I don't have any secret technique, I just load pose on last frame and run my simulation. I usually fiddle around with the cloth settings here and there, and collision depth, but I don't do anything special. Here's a link that's been a huge help to me when using dynamic clothes. It's all the cloth room settings, and their effects.
