dkal,
Sometimes some of the models converted from other programs are more trouble than they are worth.
A model like this, for example:
http://www.ontarget3d.com/site/Products/962-shelby-cobra-for-poser.aspx
or this:
http://www.ontarget3d.com/site/Products/960-gt-409-sports-car-for-poser.aspx
is already rigged, scaled, grouped, mapped and textured for Poser.
It is sometimes easier to just pay the $10 for a car that someone has spent a week Poserizing than to spend your time doing it.
Some Poser vehicle models are quite advanced, with ERC rigging, MAT files or materials, add-on props, simplified controls, etc, that are mostly not available for models that you convert from other software formats.
That is not to say that you shouldn't spend time learning how to do the conversions, and making your own models, it is up to you to decide if you want to spend your time converting and fixing models, or making images or animations.
