I dunno if we could have another guy analogous to jesus nowadays.  it would be like:

• Dad: Jess, go and rake the leaves, and clean up yer room!  it's time to do yer chores!
• Jess: sorry, pal, but I must be about my father's work.  I'm goin' down to the mall to enlighten my bro-hams.  oh, yeah, and gimme 300 bucks for a new iphone.
