I won't add to the confusion other than to say that using a lossy compression scheme (e.g. JPEG) requires some common sense: if you compress the hell out of an image, of course it will lose detail and worse, introduce compression artefacts. Also, the TIFF format accommodates all sorts of compression including LZW, ZIP and JPEG so is not in itself a guarantee of quality. These days I'm using PNG as my preferred format.

What would be great is if some future version of Poser could address Photoshop files, and specifically layers, properly: that way all the variations (make-up, tattoos, body hair etc.) would be in a single file and could be turned on or off as required.
