Here's an old, rusty grill that has been placed over the front of a long abandoned elevator used to bring 600 pound coastal artillery shells up from storage to the guns. Strangely, some grills were emplaced, other such opening are uncovered...just another mystery in an old, tomb-like, reinforced concrete firing battery that went out of business 65-70 years ago.
