Think of it this way. If the horizon is in your camera's frame, Vue is going to plant a tree until that horizon is littered with them. If a mountain blocks that horizon, a lot less tress will be planted in your Dynamic Populated camera view.
If you have gobs of RAM and 64-bit, maybe using Dynamic Population is not an option.
