I've used SmartCat for years. It does just what you want. It catalogues CD's, Floppies, Zip disks, etc. Stores the results so that you can search your entire collection for directory names, filenames and even files within zipped files. You can also browse all your CD directories without inserting a single CD. I heartily recommend it.
