Inverse square falloff on an infinite light is an oxymoron. What is the inverse square related to? Distance to the light source. So the intensity varies with the change in distance to the light source - which is, by definition, infinitely far away at all times - therefore there is no falloff.

ISF is for local sources with a specific location nearby, such as light bulbs - point lights and spot lights. Infinite is for light sources in outer space, such as the sun.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
