I take your point about your version perhaps looking better on the downward bend, but that is with the tongue fully extended. I was trying for a compromise. I wanted the tongue to look good when it was not fully extended. I was also keen to have a good licking lips shape, and for the tongue to look good when it was pressed against something directly in front of it. To my mind the JPs I used came close to the best compromise I could get with only two tongue actors.

On the other hand, that is only my opinion, and I guess I am biased on that. I admit that I am shamelessly lobbying for the adoption of proposed new JPs! You will just have to put up with that, until I loose interest and get a different bee in my bonnet.

In  the top image, TongueOut=0.75, MouthOpen=0.55, xrot for tongue2=30.0. I had to use different xrot values for tongue1 in each figure to get the tongues to fit the lips properly,  otherwise the poses are identical.

In the bottom image, I tried to get Antonia licking her top lip. I had to use quite different values for each figure. For licking the top lip the proposed new JPs win hands down, but then it depends on how much weight you give to licking the top lip, as opposed to other tongue poses that the original version may be better at.
