Subject: Magnifying lens: is it necessary

Here's the node set up.  Everything but the refraction is a gamma correction shader I've been using and that's why it looks black in the first picture.  If you use the shader just remember to put something behind it and you won't have to worry about that.  You may or may not need it, so I included it just in case.

Also don't worry about me setting refraction to .99, I was just trying something and you can use 1 or whatever you like.  Just start by putting the refract node into the refraction color and see what that gets you.

If using a sphere doesn't work and you need to make the prop yourself, just grab something free like wings or blender.
