Thanks a lot for the tips, with fewer to no swing and more twist in the thighs the knees look fine and I could even do the pose you see here. Yes, it's one and the same, just very different camera angles.

I know, I know, the elbow has a sharp crease but as I like what I have so far I keep it with odf: Real people have creases (and I don't want to "enhanceworse" the result).

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!
