I wonder if it has duplicate morphs and any morph value you add is multiplying the morph out a few times.

I have had this on clothes I have made, where a rogue duplicate gets into the cr2, so when I set the value of a morph to 1, it sets the duplicate to 1 as well, thus applying the morph twice and making it go a bit nutty.

Just a thought.
