Then it is glowing white, and the scene is rendering as it should under those circumstances.
The EnvSphere doesn't come with images, but is intended that you use an image. The IDL lighting will then come from the data in the image. Since it is pure white at the moment, the lighting is the equivalent of being in a blast furnace.
If you were to load an image into the sphere, perhaps of sky or the interior of a room, then the lighting will be more realistic.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
