Subject: Want a Grid with Transparency - Alpha? Or Selection?

Then after you have loaded the channel selection, go to the select menu/inverse. Then back in your layers pallet select the top floor texture. Click on Delete on keyboard or use the Eraser Tool and just Erase the top floor away.
I hope this helps and I'm understanding just what your trying to do..
