Quote - > Quote - Messiah is the part that completes Modo. I have my eye on that walk plugin.
In your planned workflow, after animating, what is it that makes you want to take everything into Modo? The renderer?
...the walk plugin...is that a walk cycle plugin? is it an add-on for Messiah? I guess it would not be for Modo.
::::: Opera :::::
Modo does not do that kind of character animation, yet. Scheduled to start happening in version 6 but that's just the beggining. It will take awhile to have it all implimented. So Messiah fills that gap.
Model in Modo>rig and animate in Messiah. You then can go back to Modo or stay in Messiah for rendering. Depends on what your doing.
The walker is a walk cycle plugin but gives total control of everything as in walking up stairs, step distance, ect.ect. In real time. The Messiah/Modo tutorial shows and uses it. After some reading I still don't know if it is also 64 bit and how it works with auto rig 3 and Messiah 5. Will inquire over there and see if I can get some up to date answers. I think with all the new users there will be lots of questions that need up to date answering. LOL.
Messiah has not slowed down using a V4 with me. My work station is starting to get old but it is 3.6gh phenom II quad with 8gb ram and a GTX 460 1gb with 64 bit os. So I'm wondering what kind of machines are being used and getting noticable slow down. Now I will admit that I have not thrown in 10 V4's in one scene but I was using the demo and could not save anything. Now with the full 64 bit installed I will have to give it a try.
I did this render when V4 was introduced. Because I was a Non-Fan of Victoria3, I refused to call the new model "Victoria4" or Vickie4; she was just V4 to me.
Caption:
E: You are V4, right? You are getting a lot of attention.
V: Well, I'm new, you know.
E: Is everything okay with you? I heard you had an eye problem.
V: No, that was just a rumor. I see things with eyes wide open, but it is under control.
E: You walk in that dress like you own it.
V: They made if for me.
E: You know, I saw that dress on Victoria. That's it, you must have borrowed it from your sister Vickie.
V: I am not related to "Vickie"
E: Then what does the "V" stand for then, if you only go by "V4"?
V: Voracious
E: Voracious?
V: It comes from a Latin word that means 'to devour everything with a greedy appetite."
E: Oh.
==================================================
that is all good news, especiailly about the V4 non-slowdown.
....heading over later tonight to watch that Modo/Messiah tutorial.

So true. LOL.
So here check this out. Dynamic hair using Modo and Messiah.
http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/videos.html
OMG just watched the Modo/Messiah/Modo video with Walker. NO MORE FLOATING WALKS! The rigging looks like something even I will be able to get behind.
::::: Opera :::::
Ok i get the flow on the hair. It's going to be great. This sentence:
"in Messiah, dynamics are in real time, you can test the fluidity of your hair by just moving the ball."
...got my heart beating fast.
His links to the finished hair animations are dead links. No matter, I get it. Wow.

Did you ask around before doing this or just jump in and do it? My next question is, how big is the file? No sense making a VHD larger than really neccesary right?
If you ask around, people will tell you that it doesn't work. I am confident enough to take the risk and jump in. Anyway you can use the messiah license utility to verify that vhd does have a consistent key id for messiah.
The license is just a few lines of text, paste it into a text file and save it. The file size is <1kb. The minimum size of a vhd is 16mb though.
So you've successfully used it on a different machine then?

I know. real time alterations in walk path. And that auto rigger....
Good question. Probably whining that they were manipulated into missing out. :)
Seriously though, Messiah is what Poser would be if it was a proffessional app, despite
the Pro moniker on Poser Pro. Getting around Messiah isn't TOO hard if one is
familiar with Poser, or any animation app. It just has so MANY features, that I'll
have to read that Messiah Pro Bible I DLed. Did you get that, Tashar?
I agree, as one of the original alert-thread-creators on day one, along with Tashar and others. In fact, there is a post in another thread of someone showing up, asking for the link to the deal and being told it was over. O well.
Messiah has the same feature set as Poser! It also is only $100 difference in price!
Naturally, for everything in Messiah "the same feature" as in Poser, Messiah is way more powerful, developed and fast. This is a good thing. [one feature Messiah has is soft-body].
That "close price" thing is quite amazing.
PoserPro = $499 MessiahPro = $599
::::: Opera :::::
Used to be twice that. Is the $599 permanent, or just a sale price?
A lot of hobbiests may be turned off by the fact that there is no "Make Art"
button. I'll grant you Poser doesn't have it either, but if you look at the Galleries,
it's load figure, load clothing (or not), apply canned character, apply canned pose,
apply premade background, hit render. "Cookie-cutter" renders I call 'em. Can't
do that with Messiah. Gotta do everthing by hand. Easier than in Modo, since Modo
is primarily (so far) a modeling app. Even the characters have to be rigged, though
from what I've seen, it's FAR easier to do in Messiah. ^_-
Eric
Yes, I've been going through that PDF for some time now while using the demo. It's from the online doc. I do find having the PDF much easier to work with for me. That and the Modo/Messiah tutorial was how I managed to rig V4 so soon.
I never even thought about the similarities to Poser. But it's true. It is just a steroid induced version of Poser. Could be why I'm not struggling with the learning curve.
Is the Modo/Messiah tutorial the one on their video page?
Yeah, While I think most animation software has similiar features, Poser and DS
are the only ones I've used, so I relate what I find in Messiah to that. However, as
I've said, just about everthing is similiar to Poser or DS, but goes MUCH further.
Not much of a learning curve for the basics, no, the curve hits when you learn the
areas where the tools go much farther than Poser or DS do. Not a surprise really.
it IS a professional app, after all. :) The "Bible" will keep me busy before I'm good
enough to rig anything, let alone DAZ figures. How is auto-rig?
Eric
And starts up again April 2. April 1 is reserved for the millenium cube.
Besides who doesn't have the latest Carrara from some big sale already. May not have it installed but have it. I hardly use any DAZ software anymore that the last version installed is still good enough.
Dropped hexagon for Modo. Never liked DS so stayed with Poser. Vue infinite over Carrara pro and now Messiah. I think my Modo/Messiah/Vue with a dash of Poser is all the pipeline I need. Not counting my 2D animating software.
Besides there is something, can't put my finger on it, going on with DAZ lately. That and I'm getting real board with the same stuff over and over and over again with a new same old texture and an odd new name. Saturated might be a good term for it. That's the term I would use for all the Poser type sites markets.
Also, what more can you do with V4-M4 family, that would be enough of a leap forward to be a new full line?
I was hoping for a lot more Elite texture maps. That Lana map is wonderful. If the Daz texture map jpgs play well inside Messiah with the Messiah shader system, and I can get great results with Lana, I'll probably circle back to DAZ for the Katie and Natasha maps, and the guys. The render in this post is Natasha.
::::: Opera :::::
There is no doubt that those are nice texures. That's why I bought the Reby resource disk. It is a really high rez photoshoot. Good for my own uses.
I think thier leap forward will be the 5's weightmap rigging and so on. They have shown thier hand on this. Who knows. They may work great with my pipeline now.
I don't think it was OptiTex.Though all those promises that never happend did more harm than good. They did go in with others and I think I read that one of the main founders may have left. Farr? The rumblings of things not going as planned or change in the organization policies and marketing. What ever it is, I'm not the only one that has noticed.
OK, break time over. Back to the figure I'm modeling in Modo. The sooner I get it done the sooner I can see what it will do in Messiah.
Ok, finally got my login to generate my license and before I do.. which is better? On a movable USB or on my hard drive? It sounds like the license won't work for me on a USB drive if it's specific to operating system as I have windows 7 on my laptop and XP on my desktop. Since it looks like I'll have to only use the program on my laptop is it best to put the license on my hard drive?
...... Kendra
The reference to "same OS" only distinguishes among Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux.
I locked one license on a flash drive on TinkerBell (32bit WinXP Home), One on Galadriel (64bit Vista Ultimate), and one on Cameron (64bit Win7 Ultimate). I tried using each dongle (keyed flash drive) on my various computers and found that any Windows-generated dongle will work on any of these versions of Windows. I also have a laptop -"Valkyrie"- which is 32bit Vista Ultimate. Any of my dongles will work on any of my computers.
What won't work is generating a dongle on Windows and trying to use it on a Mac, or vice versa.

Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5
The entire section just turns black.
No can do any tuts if the pgm ain't gonna kewoperate, no?
BTW - Works samo, samo with the demo, 32 bit or 64 bit Pro versions.
Any suggestions? :blink:

About all I've gotten done is verifying that the dongles work and the program opens and recognizes the license key. But I'll watch for that behavior.
What OS (and specify 32/64 bit)are you using, Doc?

@ Kendra: I would go with locking the license to a flash drive (making it a dongle). You can then use it to run project messiah on any Windows computer. I recommend a physically small flash drive so that it doesn't protrude and get in harm's way.
While I understand the concern some have that a flash drive could fail, so can a spinning hard drive, and it would be easier and cheaper to mail a flash drive to pmG for verification to get another license, as opposed to having to send a hard drive.
