It'll work on any mesh, you just have to move the bone endpoints around until they line up with the rotation centers of the various limbs, fingers etc. It'll even work on a dog or a cat if you add a tail, there's a tutorial showing that.

I've just got Antonia Lo-Res rigged, need to do some work with effectors in the shoulder regions. Her mesh subdivides really well.
