The posing mannequin idea surfaced years ago. I'm not even sure this 2001 thread was even the first mention of such a device. You might even be able to cobble something together using one of the hobby robotics kits and I think Microsoft may even have a free robotics development environment. Years ago, you could find all sorts of projects detailed in electronics magazines and Radio Shack made a lot of money selling components. These days, most would probably not go for it unless it came pre-built and packaged as an IPhone app :-)
