From cave painting to the internet, anything that could conceivably be used to depict sex in some form or other has and will be used for that purpose. Whether you view it as erotica or pornography, sacred or profane, glorious or despicable is up to the viewer. Whether it's images that men seem to prefer or bodice ripping novels and the endless philandering of soap operas that many women seem to enjoy,(though there are certainly exceptions in both cases) most human beings have a degree of interest in sex outside of the strictly pro-creative realm. Saying that people use Poser to do erotica is like saying that they use grapes to make wine - people like to get high, so what else is new.
