glad to read that the connection and transfer (suddenly) worked.

I noticed too late that this thread already got a 2nd page! (Blame my old 4 inch amber monitor!).

So my suggestions below are merely for error tracking purposes (or to be ignored). 

What did change during these past weeks, that might have affected that USB communication??

• Re-/disconnected other USB devices (e.g. scanner, digitizer tablet, cameras)
• Installed (new) software/utilities? 
• Changed/upgraded your antivir software or firewall app?
• Installed major OS related patches/updates?
• Encountered any crashes during previous photo downloads/operations? Already tried to uninstall/reinstall your Canon photo software?
• Already tried with a different USB port/cable? Already checked the according motherboard connectors/plugs? 
• Imo most likely having fried that USB port, when connection your espresso machine to it! ;)
  Sorry, difficult to guess the possible cause w/o dissecting your whole system/configuration and its history.

PS: I noticed the old time stamp on those (presumed faked/rendered) photos and doubt, if those lambs are still alive! ;)
