Subject: Does light render faster than dark?

Dave-So ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2011 at 5:33 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 5:54 AM

the reason I ask this ...i've been rendering some images using a gray background. I then did black background...it took longer for the black background to render.

What's up with that

I guess the speed of light really IS faster than the speed of dark! ROFL!!!

It should not make a difference.
Just rendered a simple scene I had rendered before (so not difference for loading textures, etc.)
changing the color of the Background from white to black to midgrey to white.
Always 32.760 seconds in PP2010 using the D3D script.

Actually, dark is faster.. it's always long gone when light arrives :-D

In rendering terms, I would assume it depends on whether the dark is an absence of light (faster) or a shadow (slower).  A scene with no lights renders fast.

But I'm betting there's an expert around who will 'splain things.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
