Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

Good one jancory.

This provides a thin chain, which I think is something well worth having. The chain I am working on (or would be working on, if I actually got off my backside and did something), is much heavier. So this privides a nice alternative.

my first attempt was clunky/large, but i redid it because i didn't like it. cage's script makes it so easy to redo..... while you're here, les, i think the individual rings need to be parented to the chest instead of the collars--they flew off in wild directions for me til i changed their parenting. i know the control prop is already parented to the chest so maybe i'm doing something wrong.

I think it was V1/2 that wanted props like this parented to the collars. Even so, if you moved the collar in any direction after parenting, the props needed to be realigned. Does this work the same way with Antonia or say V4? Even enlarging or reducing the size or shape of the breast it would have the same problem. Really frustrating. What would one do if doing an animation and say nipple tapes or barbarian breast armor similarily parented needed similar realignment?

SaintFox ( ) posted Thu, 12 May 2011 at 8:12 AM

@Jancory: Of course I could help you and upload that chain to the free site. But then it would appear under my name, something I don't feel comfortable with as it's your work I am posting. But I will try and create some screenshots about the register-and-upload process for everybody, okay? I swear that the whole thing is painless!!

@Jancory: Glad it worked. Your name, nickname or whatever you choose is not important and we do not track any information about you. The registering is only needed so that nobody else can manage your files. Maybe an update is needed or desired or you want to update the text... this way you can do this on your own but (important) no one else. In fact it was me who made this necessary as I always make a mistake or typo when doing uploads, it's a kind of folklore ;o) So I needed a way to alter things once they are online.

Thanks jancory. You are right, any rotation of Antonia's collars seems to throw the rings out of position. I will update the files, using the chest as parent.

lesbentley ( ) posted Thu, 12 May 2011 at 7:42 PM

Anyone who downloaded the 'NippleRingsAP', should download again,
as the file has been updated to fix a problem.

There is one solution: making the rings a conforming figure with the relevant JCM's and the classic breast morphs included. If you parent the rings to the collar, they move with the collarbone. The nipple area of the breast is outside or at the low end of the falloff zone of the chest-collar joint and will not or hardly follow. That's why the rings fly of the nipples when you move the collar. If the rings are parented to the chest, the difference is less.  As a conformer, the covement of the collar is used only to the extent given by the fall-off zone.

You could also make the rings follow the nipple vertices using the cloth room. (constrained group), or for a more pemanent solution use a Python script that takes the co-ordinates of the nipple vertices (id number is a constant, 6524 and 6528 for the outer and sides of the left nipple for example for the full-res version. Low-res version could be different but I did not check) and moves the rings to follow. Older Poser versions (5?) featured a sample script showing how to get and put vertex data, but I can not find this in Pro2010.

Huh!?

I am sorry I want to know about all this but could never wrap my dry brain matter around it in this lifetime. As much as I appreciate your involved response it is WAY over my head. Though I have used Poser4 since it came out and only recently migrated to Poser7 I only know enough about the apps to set up and render my images. I still don't know about adjusting joint parameters or setting up and using magnets and spawning morph targets let alone all this other good stuff you describe and that can be used in Poser7.

Quote - There is one solution: making the rings a conforming figure with the relevant JCM's and the classic breast morphs included.

Yes, and I did consider doing that. Fortunately jancory's solution of parenting the rings to the chest seems to have fixed the problem. Where I made my big mistake was in not testing thoroughly enough before posting. I tried a few stock posed on the figure, and when all seemed to work OK, I uploaded the file. With hind sight, it is obvious that none of the poses I applied moved the collars, and I should really have tried applying manual rotations to them.

As to the Breasts-classic and Nipples-classic morphs, they are catered for, and when those morphs are are expressed in Antonia the rings should adjust automatically. This works for me in P6, I'm hoping it is working in other Poser versions. Even though the rings are props, they use the same "super-conforming" method as conforming figures do. There are 10 PBMCC channels in each ring and the control prop, so it should be possible to cater for other breast morphs via injections.

Quote - for a more pemanent solution use a Python script that takes the co-ordinates of the nipple vertices...

That sounds very interesting, and I would love to know how to do that, but my knowledge of Python script is virtually none existent.

That would be basically what Morphing Clothes does.  I'm not sure whether it works on props.  If not, one could make a temporary figure using the rings as Collar parts, to transfer the relevant morphs.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

> Quote - I still don't know about adjusting joint parameters or setting up and using magnets and spawning morph targets let alone all this other good stuff you describe and that can be used in Poser7.

Spawning morph targets (as opposed to making the morphs) is very easy. Try this experiment. Set Poser to use 'Poser Native Units' in the General Preferences (this is so you are using the same units as I am). Load Antonia, select her head from the Object menu, select 'Create Magnet'. Select the Mag and set its xScale to 115%, this will make the head wider. Select the head, then from the Object menu, select 'Spawn Morph Target'. The effect of the magnet has been saved to the head as a morph target.

Restore the Mag (with the Mag selected CTRL+E). Select the Mag Zone, set its scale to 1.4, set its zTran to 0.038, now the Zone only covers the bridge of the nose. Select the Mag, set its zTran to 0.05. You have given Antonia a hooked nose, if you like you can spawn another morph target. Set the yTran of the Mag Zone to 0.64, you have given Antonia a longer nose (see image above). Adjusting the zTran of the Mag will change the how far the nose sticks out. The Zone controls what will be affected, the Mag how much it will be affected, and whether translated, rotated, or scaled. The Base controls what point the effect emanates from, and in what direction. Try xRotating the Mag Base.

You don't need to use magnets when spawning morphs, you can spawn a morph from a combination of other morphs. You could for example apply the OpenMouth morph and the Smile morph, say both at 0.5, then spawn a new morph as "OpenSmile".

There is a lot more I could say about magnets, but I have already taken the thread too far off the topic of Antonia. There is an excellent tutorial on using magnets at PhiC's site, it comes in both text and video versions.

I find that joint parameters can be very difficult, and I really admire people like Phantom3D who have a deep understanding of the subject.

Oh, yeah.  I see that now.   Man, I cannot get with it, recently.  Dang.  Friday 13 fell on a Friday this month.

Personally, I wouldn't be prepared to link a figure or prop's functionality to Poser's Python callbacks.  They work, mostly... until they don't.  Then: crash-ola.  A bit risky for anything really complex, IMO.

Yes, you are probably right there. Matching the location of the nipples by slaving the translations of the rings to the  relevant morphs in the figure, like I did for the native breast morphs, seems to work well enough, and is probably quite reliable, but it is a lot of work to set up. The idea that it might be possible to have a prop automatically track the location of a vertex is a very enticing one.

The conversation about creating shoes made me decide to try making something basic with PhilC's Shoe Designer, now that it supports Antonia.

I did very, very little, basically turning on the high heel morphs in the designer, and the thigh cuffs morph.  A little tweaking here and there to minimize poke-through.  From there, I used Phil's standardized boot texture. In short, nothing actually original here.

Had to tweak the foot settings to bend the boots to the appropriate shapes, which is something I should do AFTER applying a pose, not before, as most poses seem to change the foot settings.

I doubt you could get much variety out of Phil's designer, although with the right textures and transparency maps, it would look like much more.  OTOH, I've barely used it at all, so I have no idea just what can be done with this.

Now that you say it I am unsure... I know that Fabiana released a Paris hair on 3d-commne and I am not sure if this is the same hair or a variation. Better ask Fabi about it before you have the same hairdress twice.
