When I reinstall Windows, I install it and the drivers and updates,  then boot from a Knoppix Linux CD and make a disk image on an external drive with Partimage, so if I need to reinstall, I just can copy the saved image back, which takes about 20 minutes.  I also keep Windows in its own partition, so I can do this without disturbing my data..  My XP disk image fits on a DVD.
