Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:45 am)
Ah, this is the conforming issue I think.
Conforming clothes must be conformed to the figure, then they will follow the figure when you pose it, and scale with it when you scale it. The same applies to conforming hair (hair that loads as a figure). Some hair loads as a prop, and that needs to be parented to the head of the figure, then it will also stay "stuck" to the head.
How I remember my early efforts where the lady would be all dressed and coiffed, and then I make her walk across the screen and the hair and clothes remain behind in mid-air while she walks away naked and bald....

Nanette, I can picture your surprise as that would happen -- that's kinda I think on the issue I was having before too --
No problem hborre, Steve answered the question perfectly as well, with the Hierarchy thing -- that's what I have to do. I'll get everything to work that way. Steve -- thanks! I'll keep you all posted as to how I make out.

Nanette -- can you explain to me how you did that? I still am having difficulties. :(. Thought I had it, guess not :(.
Thanks again in advance everyone.

Glad I checked in before going to do something else on the PC a bit -- just a tad frustrated at Poser right now.
Now, hborre, when you say posing, you're supposed to from what I gathered when I read the manual that came with Debut (I know, I'm using 8 -
Can you or someone help me with a kinda step by step completion or rather compilation guide?
This is what really happens -- I have the figure properly clothed. I change the pose, say to lean up against the Mini Cooper, and the clothes stay where they were. I need everything to be with the figure. I know I'll get it, I just want to practice with this first and make sure everything is done right before I start putting odd looking passengers on my Flight Sim aircraft, LOL. :) Thanks again...

Thanks hborre -- So, after you click conform, This reply was put up before the other images were done. Now, the only thing that happens with my menus when I tried that, I NEVER saw the persons name, just Andy. I don't know why Andy always remains. I'm going to try and see if I can get that to happen. Thanks again, and I will keep you all posted in this thread to see if anything happens differently...:-)

Excesllent, thank you again -- I truly appreciate the help. I'll have to do some practice figures before doing custom ones. That step by step guide was exactly what I was looking for.

Andy is the default android for P8 and PP2010 startup scene. You can delete Andy by selecting and pressing delete on your keyboard, then you can load a different character. To create an empty scene for startup, delete andy, then check Launch to preferred state in General Preferences. Click Set Preferred State, then OK.
Very cool -- thanks again man. You've been a big help to me on this, especially with the tutorials screen shots. I'm always a night owl, so later on this evening I'll be fooling around with this and see what happens. Before I do sign off -- (won't have time to complete my flight plan this evening on Flight Sim X sadly) Will do that set up with the new character that I want to use as my first passenger.
I'm going to have to look and see if there's any luggage props available as well -- really want to put together a good render for my first now successful it will seem person.

Oh yes, most definitely. I tried it earlier, couldn't finish a whole project, but your step by step process really paid off. Will now be able to get some what of a small group together.
I'll wait before doing any custom body morphs for a while I think....:-)

Well everyone, I'm finally proud of myself -- completed my first figure this morning, ready to render a scene -- the only thing that NOW confuses me, is how do you "lock" a figure to group everything together so that if you have to scale it to a photograph say, you don't move the hair/clothing/etc when you re-scale it? This should be the last question for a while now that I have seemed to have gotten the hang of Poser 8 -- going to be getting ready to do a render very soon of my basic first passenger I created to go along with one of my aircraft, edited into a screen shot of another aircraft from the Flight Sim. The only thing is, that darned moving clothing/hair/etc when you re-scale.
Thanks again everyone for your help! :)
