Actually, the old Fujita scale (F), was replaced with the Enhanced Fujita scale (EF). Something they couldn't do while Dr. Teodoro (Ted) Fujita was still alive. Dr. Greg Forbes at the Weather Channel was a student of his. The Joplin tornado was officially classified as an EF5 by the National Weather Service. I was a trained observer for the NWS with Skywarn (Amateur Radio Service) for many years, and had 3 close calls in that time, just being in the right place at the right time (if you want to call it that).
Dr. Forbes has his extremely accurate Torcon index. While the meteorologist at CNN was giving a 10 - 15 percent chance, Dr. Forbes was giving a Torcon of 9 (90 percent). The guy at CNN was way off.
At any rate, I was giving my observation of the damage in the foreground of your photo, Clay.
