it may be difficult to find ink-jet printers where anything over 300 dpi is distinguishable from 300 dpi to somebody with average vision not using optical comparator or microscope.  at kinko's they told me: 18X24 inch posters done on their giant HP printers, 150 dpi would be adequate.
