Obj will be imported to Bryce center and if camera or director's view has been moved prior to importing things might not be visible.  It is simplest to go to overhead view to find the import and move it to a spot in front of the camera.

Imported objects will have that sparse wire frame for some reason.  Symetrical lattices do the same thing, but that is not a new B7 idiosyncrasy.
