More and more big companies are phasing out their not so high speed plans anyways, eventually you will be out of luck if you are looking for something on dial up quality. In my area 10 mbps is about the slowest we can get from a local company, then there is u-verse dsl service but frankly they are so horrendous here that we switched to a competitor and their 40mbps plan. But even when we had dsl we had about 4mbps.  And compared to some other countries our 'highspeed' net in the states looks like dial up... my hotel wifi in Korea was faster then my high speed connection here... a lot lot faster.
