Your analysis is probaby correct.
But this thread needs derailing, surely. ;) I can't remember where I was reading a journalist's suggestion that Apple apstore products are also way underpriced, given the work required to create them and the expected number of sales. He felt that the availability of free aps drove the price down by changing the public perception of value. He might have had a point.
