Er! I'm never going to live down that Meatball thing am I?! Oh well...guess I'll just have to live with it! About the blood in the water...I can think of a couple of ways to do it. 1: if it is from the side of say a glass or something probably the easiest way would be a symetrical latice...I really don't know how to explain this, but I can see it in my mind. If it is from the top try it with a terrain with the elevation droped way down and just create the shape of the blood that you are going for.
