They did it to fix a problem with the layout, see linked thread.
Unfortunately it wasn't what was needed or wanted.

And you've been nearly as long as I have, so you must recognise the pattern here, that demanding the admins explain themselves on a technical issue that they didn't understand before "fixing" it, just isn't going to have a happy ending, no matter how much you or I explain, complain, or fill in survey answers about issue.
I do hope they say something, because it should be assuming, but will be unfulfilling.
