I've been at this for over ten years and at first it was about imagination and quality. Slowly it turned into a popularity contest.  Nowadays it doesn't matter how much time, effort or money goes into an image as the popular can post whatever they want and get more hits and comments. Its just not worth it to even bother posting on some sites........
