It's not a bandwidth thing, it's an HTML layout thing. The old layout mostly worked, but full size pictures made the fixed sized background image look wrong, then they changed something and the righthand bar appeared over the top of full sized pictures, then they released the latest design and full sized pictures broke the layout even worse.
