Quote - Poser's usability features are atrocious, and that's a shame because there's a lot of really cool technology going on inside it. Of course if you can't even download or install it you will never know. I wonder if SM has any idea of how much drop off they have in users who download Poser and either cancel or abandon the product.

Usability factors are of particular interest to me, so I may be more sensitive to the issue than most, but even so there are so many obvious, glaring issues that I have to believe that it's just not a priority with them.

So if you really want to do some 3D graphics work be prepared to muscle your way through a lot of it. When you come to something that makes you wonder why it's behaving that way or why it's set up the way it is, the likely answer is that it really shouldn't behave that way or that it was a bone-headed feature to begin with.

Unfortunately DAZ isn't any better. I don't know about any of the other 3D products.

I've used Poser since version 4 (I'm on 7 at the moment).  I'm purely a hobbyist so as to the ultra technological side - well, I leave that to those who perhaps use it professionally.  The runtime 'organisation' is a joke, I will give you that.  A pity it doesn't have a sort of Explorer type interface for that instead of going through all the motions of click-click-clicking various folders. (Other than the core Poser runtime, all of mine are linked externally).

As I hadn't downloaded the first time there was nothing in my 'cart' so I set up a new download - shhhhhh - it's ongoing now - though I suspect I'll be cancelling before the trial is up ;)

My aspiration: to make a decent Poser Render I'm an Oldie, a goldie, but not a miracle worker :-)
