As for those who want comments on their uploads, my experience on photography sites, blogs, galleries, etc suggests that until you've been actively posting and commenting for long enough to gain a certain critical mass of followers, the reciprocity principle remains in force:
On average, comments received = comments made.
Behaving like a complete jerk, or uploading astoundingly great content may skew the results somewhat.
