Fully agreed to your statements!! That blue color scheme is imo not suitable for an Art site. Not to forget certain removed(!) basic usability/functionality due to this change. :(

I too would prefer much more neutral colors instead (e.g. shades of grey). Or to get the old site scheme back as a choice/user-option. Members having to adjust personalized CSS is no solution.

PS: Even Woody feels blue after to this "uglificationated" makeover (i.e. my approach to deal with this unwanted style):
