FYI since I saw a couple comments that indicate people are troubled by not understanding why this or that happens with Flash or AIR.
The Library is implemented in Flash or AIR. Which you have depends on what you have:
Anime Studio - Flash
Poser 8 - Flash
Poser Pro 2010 32-bit - Flash (embedded dockable version) or AIR (external window version)
Poser Pro 2010 64-bit - AIR (external window version)
Poser Debut - Flash
All libraries are the same code, just deployed differently with different parameters. Each year, more features are added to that code base.
At the time PP2010 was released, there wasn't any 64-bit Flash, so that was the only way to keep the same code base - AIR.
I wrote the new library. When you insult it, you insult me. I was very sincere when I wrote it.
A frequent question/statement is made, something like "What were they thinking using Flash" with the subtext (intentional or not) being "Ted is an idiot. Why?" This position generally assumes that a self-contained implementation was possible, could be done in time, and would be affordable. This assumption is based on incomplete knowledge of engineering and the product requirements, and a failure to understand economics, as well as the product calendar at the time.
I am not an idiot. I know how to make a design choice based on trade-offs. You may not know the trade-offs and requirements, so your assessment can easily come out different than mine. All that means is you don't know what led to the decision, while I do. Doesn't mean either of us is stupid.
SM wanted ONE new content management system for all its graphics products, one that could evolve and be cross-platform, and would not require a complete rewrite of Anime Studio.
SM did not want to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for this.
P9 and PP 2012 use the same system, with some more improvements.
Now you know why. Spread the word. Or not - just understand I'm not going to keep defending the choice.
Note also that for those willing to pay, there are several excellent 3rd-party alternatives.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
