I got mine early! All the bandwidth was still open.

Makes one think it would be the best option to put something like this out as a torrent, and then everyone who downloads it can also help facilitate its distribution :). E-mail us the serial number for our product and a torrent address, and ta-da!

Well I thought I'd downloaded everything. But somehow missed the figures so now the installer has halted while it waits for those ..

(and yes I know I could skip it and install those later.. but I want to SEE those figures and the weightmapping and stuff... whine)

Indeed a Torrent would be the clever way of distributing something this large. But torrents unfortunately have  bad reputation.. sigh (well not totally unwarranted either)

This is true but it could be integrated into a small installer like the way game updates are handled (some MMOs do this).

My thought was to split the installer into small chunks as a .rar file.  Or even an installer that downloads those rars and then assembles it into one installer application.

Almost finished within 4 minutes! I had to wait almost 5 and a half hours for the download and I still have to download all the content. But I'll do that tomorrow because it's past midnight here and I have to rise at five o'clock.

Hold on, it's finished! The server has a little more bandwidth now for you Trekkiegrrrl.

True, but that's like saying, "We won't distribute this electronically because the Internet is what makes piracy possible." Torrents are a brilliant use of the technology - pirates just happen to use them. Kind of like how real-world pirates use ships - yet we still go on cruises and send vast amounts of imports across the oceans *in ships. :D

I haven't started my download yet, so it's not my fault. I'll attempt to slow things down later when I can get my download :tongue2: but it's not me yet.

I got my down load but still have to read the directions on install, can't wait though.

A bit jealous- I ordered the physical version-because I've had personally burned discs fail when tried on another computer.

I just save them on several physical harddisks. At least ONE of them is bound to work then L

If you're in East Asia, a good time is between 2 and 5 pm Beijing/HongKong or Perth,WA  time.  Despite the internet traffic in booming East Asia, the decreased internet buzz from EU and N America helps increase the chances of getting large downloads like these.

Sorry, TrekkieGrrl, I just had to download mine ;). Only took 2.25 hours, though - not bad for the amount of stuff, I guess.

Well, so much for that - tried extracting the downloads, and 5 (!) of them are corrupt, including the installer itself. So now I'm trying to go back in and download them again, and I can't even log into their site.

I have to say, as software publishers and supposed experts, Smith Micro sure don't impress me, and when I go into store support, my login for the store doesn't apply? WTF?

This isn't the first time SM have sold Poser - how can they be so unprepared for it?
