I decided to try a few test renders in Poser 2012. This isn't a completely fair comparison because I am comparing Poser Pro 2012 (64-bit) with Poser 7 (32 bit).
All renders were done on the same machine (Intel i7-2600 with 16GB RAM).
I set up the scene in Poser 7 and used the same render settings in Poser Pro 2012. The scene was a simple portrait shot of V4, Koz Bob Hair and the S3 "Astrid" texture.
I ran the renders three times each too see how much effect texture caching had on the render time. Each render was timed from pressing "Render" until the render progress bar disappeared.
P7 Render 1: 94 sec
P7 Render 2: 74 sec
P7 Render 3: 74 sec
Poser Pro 2012 Render 1: 40 sec
Poser Pro 2012 Render 2: 25 sec
Poser Pro 2012 Render 3: 24 sec
The quality of the renders from the two different versions were almost identical due to using the same render settings.
With the texture caching it is rendering in about 1/3 of the time, so I'm very pleased with the new version.
