This seems to be hitting a strange market price point...over $600US for a camera with no viewfinder turns me away instantly. Yet, the idea of a small yet powerful "rangefinder" type camera is appealing. (Of course, the rangefinder part is some form of electronic focus. )
The ability of film cameras of this sort I have used in the past is compact size and quickness to take photo almost silently, no mirror click. And, those were quite nice to take around. Yet, I must have a viewfinder, then go up another $200 for that. Is it worth it? I doubt it and I do not have spare cash to play with this concept.
Electronic viewfinder does away with the parallax problem of the film models. I will keep an eye out for what goes on with these cams from the various makers.
Yeah I agree with Tom. A traditonal viewfinder is a must for me also, as is a full frame sensor. I know these guys are marketed as easier to carry than bulky SLR's, but I actually prefer the heavier SLR as it feels more balanced in my hand (to be fair I have not used this particular V1). I guess I'm just used to it, but I mean I can't imagine many if any SLR users switching formats. I imagine Nikon also wouldn't risk jeopardizing its DSLR sales by making this beast toooo good. ;) Nikon are probably aiming this camera at Facebook shooters and the like - people who like photography but don't necessarily consider themselves to be photographers.
