Well, if you just want to make popups on mouseover on certain coordinates of your 3d render.. you could use css and/or javascript for that.

a quick example would be something like this:

That would be the markup with:

•  a container (.map).
•  the image (img).
•  trigger elements (the ones that will respond to mouseover)
•  the popup-container (for easier positioning of the pop-up)
•  the pop-up (the actual popup itself)
•  Some content (the h2 and p tags)
