You don't have to pay that $67.00.

When you go to the UPS depot to pick up your parcel, you tell them that you did not give them permission to complete the customs papers for you, and that you want to fill them out yourself!

That $67.00 includes their "Brokerage" fee for filling out the custom paper declaring the value of the item, their "COD" fee to collect the brokerage fee, and taxes on it all.

UPS gouges us Canadians.

If they tell you that you can't fill out the customs papers because they were already done, ask to speak to a supervisor and DEMAND that you not be charged their brokerage or COD fees because they did not contact you to give you the option of filling the paperwork out for yourself.

There was a class action lawsuit brought against UPS for extortion rates. Unfortunately, the courts tossed it out after 2 years for some reason saying it didn't fit the criteria to be "class action".

l bought and downloaded the digital version -  it took forever becauses Canada's major ISP - Bell throttles large downloads to a trickle - like 350kb - can you believe it? And I'm paying for a premium high speed service.  All that to say that I was thinking I should have had the darn thing shipped over, instead of waiting for the interminable download - about 7 gigs. I guess either solution has its disadvantages. But that extra cost you had to pay is really outrageous.

Thanks Acadia..... I'll give it a try.

I usually do a digital download but I thought there might be some value in having the physical documentation with all the new features.... I'm probably going to be disappointed about that though...

The shipping transcript has the shipment entering Canada, then going back to the US and then back into Canada.....

I think UPS has some "  'splaining to do Lucy"

I never buy anything physical from the USA unless it can be shipped by some means other than UPS. Or USPS, some shippers can't tell the difference the extra S makes.

Been there, done that. If at all possible, I always ship USPS, never courier. You'll get the same experience with FedEx, DHL, whatever courier you use. Has nothing to do with Poser... it's the same with anything you ship in over the border.

Yep. No physical manual. At all.

Here's some interesting reading about shipping into Canada and "self clearing"

I know this has nothing to do with Smith Micro and Poser.
