I think something else must be creating a conflict in your GC results.

Just ran my own test. GC=1 and GC=Off are identical (comparison render wipe = indistinguishable).

 In this instance, my GC=2.2 render definitely looks more desaturated compared to the GC=Off renders... but also far more realistic.

I do think that the relative ugliness of your GC renders is probably a materials issue... but I also think that kawecki's preference for your GC=0 render probably indicates a bias a lot of us have, i.e. that oversaturated looks better to us. In actuality, however, it certainly is not more "real."
