Subject: Looking for Instructors to teach 3D modeling if anyone is interested

FightingWolf ( ) posted Wed, 26 October 2011 at 11:59 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 11:27 AM

I looking for someone to be an instructor to teach 3d modeling online and would like to know if there is anyone that is interested in something like this.

I know how to teach online, but I have NO experience in modeling . . .

:(

hmmm... only part of the equation.  What do you teach online?

I've taught most high school subjects (just not French, the high maths, physics and chemistry) in a synchronous (live) environment, and am currently teaching English 10 - 12, Biology 11 & 12 and Science 10 in an asynchronous (it's kind of like correspondance) environment.  Right now, it would be nice to be busier . . .

Knowing how to present material in a compelling way is important, but to do so effectively, knowing the material is crucial.

You may wish to consider online training sites like Lynda.com or Digital Tutors. They are relatively inexpensive on a per month subscription basis and you'll find all the video tutorials you'd need to learn how to model.

I'm from the old school and learned how to model from pouring over thousands of pages in books on modeling (along with trial and error) and I can tell you that I wished I would have started from these subscription sites instead but they didn't exist then. If a picture is worth a thousand words how much is a complete video course worth? :)

Heh heh - I didn't mean to exclude you from my recommends Dr. Geep. If FightingWolf was seeking online training for anything that related to Poser - you would have been at the top of the list :)

Without knowing specifically what modeling app FightingWolf was seeking instruction on I just assumed he wanted to learn one of the major 3D modeling applications like Maya, 3dsmax, etc. Both Lynda.com and Digital Tutors are invaluable resource sites for anyone wishing to self-teach themselves modeling in one of the major modeling applications.

OP why don't you be a little more direct in what you're asking for: someone to provide content for your web page right?  For free, or for pay?

e: reason being, you're going to get vastly different responses for "looking for someone to tutor me personally for $X per hour" vs. "looking for someone to write articles for my web page for free".

  1. I want looking for people who would be interested in teaching an online class dealing with 3d modeling on my site.  The type of modeling programs that are used aren't important at this point because I don't know what the majority of my members use and others use for modeling.

  2. The instructor will teach an online class at my site PoserByDesign and I'll handle the registration and online instruction feature that will be used.  All the instructor will have to do is teach based on how long the instructor wants to hold the class and how many hours

  3. Someone that is willing to tutor is fine to because I know that I want to learn myself but currently don't have the time to model anything even if I knew how to model.  But in the future I know I'll have some time after I get a few things "off my plate."

  4. The Instructor will be paid, what you get paid depends on what you charge and how many people sign up.  If you charge $20 and get 20 students for 3 hours of class time then that's $400.  If you charge $60 and get 20 students for 5 hours then that's $1200.  What the instructors make is solely based on what they charge.

The reason I'm asking is because I need to offer more online workshops but can't at the moment because of other commitments which means I need to take more of an admin role.

So at the moment I'm taking names of people who are interested so I can start planning the entire process out more.  I don't want to start any detail planning if no one is interested in teaching, but if there's an interest then I'll head in this direction.

Think of this as a feasiblity study to see if this is something that I can or should do based on my ability to actually find people willing and able to be instructors.
