You know, if this was really a lucky dip, I wouldn't have minded one bit. In that case I'd have gotten the violet bath salts, smiled and given them to an aged aunt. I'd have been pleased that my money had gone towards supporting the local boy scout troop or a new roof for the village hall.
But that's not what this is. This is a marketing strategy for a business, designed to make customers spend money - it is emphatically not a free gift. That's why I'm unhappy about getting blown off by customer services, however nicely it was worded.
Congratulations on your canny shopping, you did well. But it was shopping; we're not at the village fair here.
