Rather than trying to modify the existing mesh ...

... It will be easier to just SELECT some of the mesh and then ...

... ... REMOVE it ... Next ...

**BUT - DO NOT ... I repeat ... DO NOT REMOVE anything ..... yet!

Then we can create some new faces where we want them ... 😄
