You have to open it, if not moisture can survive years. It's like a keyboard with Coca Cola, coffee or a damned cat. Probably you don't have the tools for the screws or you damage the device trying to open it. So, total loss, buy a new one with the newest features and able to calculate elliptic integrals of the third kind  (For what do you need this ?)
