Not so much a sky answer but placing the sun low on the horizon either right or left of the camera adds remarkably to a scenes appeal.  Experiment with the camera view point a lot also.  Look for view points that differ from just a typical snapshot photo.  Sometimes you will get a scene that is totally different than what you expected in a good way.  These are things that us Poser/DS deficient folks can try to enrich a render.
