Hiding the toes is a time-honored way of dealing with poke-thru even with conforming shoes. Of course it doesn't work very well with open-toe pumps or sandals!

Speaking of shoes, I am very fond of vendors who make both shoes part of the same CR2 instead of two separate ones.
