It's gotten to the stage where I just don't buy anything any more, unless it's something I really want, as I seem to spend most of my time fixing the crap that lot (points at venders) sell.
Bad DS mats isn't really an issue for me as I tend to bin most of them any way, and I've gotten used to the low res textures & shit bump maps (greyscale is** NOT** a bump map).
It's the other stuff that annoys me, displacement maps that look like transmaps, way to much negative displacement in them for DS, it causes the mesh to shink inwards away from the normals, so they end up in PS to get fixed (change the black to medium grey), I'm ham-fisted in there at the best of times so you can guess the usual outcome :cursing: .
Then there's the usual round of editing of the Poser files themselves, fixing the ERC so the root dials will actually work, and sometimes having to renaming the valueParms so the superconforming works (Posers crosstalk still scares many venders), and that's on top of removing joint parameters that shouldn't be there.
Oh and watch out for anything that says 'Smart morphs', DS hates them and usually breaks the morphs, especially if they are in a .PMD.
Now you know why so many DS users only buy from DAZ, their content will still work in P4/PP which is what DS was designed to use.
