When Poser 5 was given away, it allowed me to afford the upgrade to Poser 6 (with a free upgrade to Poser 7). That was a game changer for me, but I WANTED Poser. D/S was free then, but no amount of money or time made D/S usable for me, and I am still underwhelmed.
DAZ3D is playing their version of hardball. Clearly, content is still the real money maker for them. It will be interesting to see if S/M responds, or even needs too. D/S is a big program, it takes a lot of disk space, and a fairly up-to-date computer. A runtime full of content costs a lot of money too, and the DAZ store is flakey (it took me two hours last night to place a simple order).
